Fabian's Take

CPO & Chief AI Officer

"I cancelled my ChatGPT subscription because I found other models more compelling for my daily work. That said, I still use it from time to time — it remains a solid all-rounder with the broadest feature set. It's just no longer my first choice for any specific task."

Full Review

ChatGPT is the AI assistant that started the revolution, and it remains the most feature-rich option available. OpenAI has built an impressive ecosystem around it, making it the default choice for many users — though that default status is increasingly being challenged.

What Makes ChatGPT Stand Out

The breadth of capabilities is unmatched. In a single conversation, you can analyze data, generate images, browse the web for current information, run Python code, and create custom GPTs. No other assistant offers this range in a single interface.

Voice mode is genuinely impressive — it feels like talking to a knowledgeable colleague. For brainstorming sessions or when you’re on the go, it’s a useful feature.

The Ecosystem Advantage

The GPT Store and custom GPTs give ChatGPT an ecosystem advantage. Need a specialized assistant for legal research, marketing copy, or financial analysis? Someone has probably already built a GPT for that.

Why I Moved On

Despite its breadth, I found myself reaching for other tools more often. Claude consistently produces better output for complex reasoning and writing tasks. Perplexity is far superior for research. Gemini has become a better sparring partner. ChatGPT does everything, but other tools do specific things better.

Pricing Considerations

The free tier gives you access to GPT-4o but with usage limits. The Plus plan at $20/month is decent value but can feel restrictive for heavy users. The Pro plan at $200/month is hard to justify for most professionals.

Who Should Use ChatGPT

If you want one AI tool that does everything reasonably well and you don’t want to juggle multiple subscriptions, ChatGPT is still a solid choice. It’s particularly useful if you need image generation, web browsing, and code execution in the same workflow.
